Let's just see

Reading the news this morning, saw a news item about an interracial rape in Durham NC. Yep, the same town in which a previous interracial rape inspired a news media reaction that went way past "frenzy" into a realm for which the English language has no words. This rape, however, will no doubt garner very little attention from the MSM. Why would two similar "crimes" ( I say "crimes" because the first one, we found out much later never actually happened...remember the Duke lacrosse team case?) inspire two radically different reactions? Same crime...forcible sex. Same racial component, a white man perp raping a black person. Why would there be a difference? Same geographical area, same opportunity for the news folks to film the shot with the same town in the background while they pontificate on the horror and shock. Why would the first crime, with little evidence to prove it, garner outrage and indignation across the spectrum of politicians and legal talking heads and news anchors, while this second case will no doubt see little attention at all in spite of the overwhelming evidence that it did occur, and in fact the victim was a small child to make it even more horrific???

I'll tell you why. The perp was a homosexual man and the victim was a black child. A young black boy living with a gay couple.

There are people who maintain that the Mainstream News Media, CNN and CBS and NBC and MSNBC and Fox are not manipulating the public, that they report the news with no regard for how it fits the profile of how they want us to think. I don't believe that, haven't believed it for years, and now they have a chance to prove it. Let's just see if this news gains any "traction". Let's just see if we are subjected to countless updates and live feeds from Durham, NC and endless commentaries. Let's just see if the president's spokesman is expected to comment on it. Let's just see if the mayor of Durham and the Durham chief of police spend any time in the lights over this. Let's just see if the news corporations prove us wrong, those of us who say they have an agenda to manipulate the minds of the American public. Let's just see.
